For this Venetian themed gala, we made sure to steer clear of a clichéd use of masks and feathers as décor, instead allowing our elegant guests to bring the masquerade aspect of the event to life.

Red carpet arrivals were snapped against the media wall, but for the main ballroom we wanted to create a feel of one of the decadent and opulent palazzos of Venice in the throes of Carnevale. Elegant statutory, sculpted topiary, and a decorative lighting effect on the dance floor all added to the already glamorous backdrop of the Sydney Town Hall.

Entertainment was themed to suit, a live string orchestra opening the evening with Vivaldi, followed later by an amazing operatic performance by Taryn Fiebig and her partner on stage (and in life) Jud Arthur. We created a dramatic entrance for Taryn, wheeled in on a gondola through the guest tables escorted by a host of costumed dancers.

After formalities had concluded (and many funds had been successfully raised!) the guests joined together on the dance floor to take part in a guided Venetian dance – creating a truly elegant scene as they moved en masse in formation. The rest of the night was led by DJ Dan Rowntree who kept the dance floor filled with the help of some more modern tunes.
